The answer

Europe has 1,288,561 advisor register records across 42 countries in emable's EU aggregate as of 5 September 2026 (live, reliability A for record counts). Of those, 879,397 carry an active status, and the aggregate refreshes hourly. These are register records, not people. The public snapshot of 15 July 2026 holds 968,080 records across the same 42 countries and is the figure quoted on emable's public pages.

No public source counts active financial advisers across Europe as people. Registers differ by country in scope, categories and archiving rules, and one person can appear once per product line. The aggregate is an upper bound on headcount, not a headcount.

The numbers

Every figure behind this answer sits in the key figures table above, with its value, unit, period, source and reliability grade: A official statistics, B reconciled from published sources, C modelled estimate, D indicative.

Public snapshot by country, 15 July 2026. Rich means all relevant registers ingested and reconciled. Partial means the main registers ingested with some categories missing. Thin means one register or a partial extract.

How the number is built

Each national register is ingested as published and the raw record is preserved. An interpreted layer normalises identity, authorisation, product role, connected entity and validity dates into one schema. The count is exact for the ingested layer; that is what reliability A covers.

An active record is one the source register shows as valid at the observation date. The live total moves hourly with register refreshes and maintenance. The snapshot is fixed, so a difference between the two says more about ingestion than about the market.

Germany needs a caveat. The aggregate holds 12,982 German records at coverage level thin, because only some German registers are ingested so far. The separate Germany Intelligence package estimates 285,000 active advisers, range 240,000 to 330,000, reliability C. Both are true; one counts ingested records, the other models active people.

What it means for distribution

Use the record count to size a register, not a salesforce. Rich countries support entity-level work: product roles, tenure and movement between entities. Partial countries support sizing with a stated gap. Thin countries support a first look and nothing more.

The 879,397 active records are the working universe of the European Advisor Radar, a private market and company-fit report per country. Talent Intelligence and distribution intelligence run on the same base as private or gated pilots and export no contact data.

Related questions

Why are records not people?
One person can hold several product authorisations and appear once per line, firms and individuals both carry entries, and ended authorisations stay in the data with their dates. The count is exact for records and an upper bound for headcount.
What do the coverage levels mean?
Rich means all relevant registers are ingested and reconciled. Partial means the main registers are ingested and some categories are missing. Thin means one register or a partial extract.
Why is Germany so small in the aggregate?
Germany is at coverage level thin with 12,982 records because only some German registers are ingested so far. The separate Germany Intelligence package estimates 285,000 active advisers (240,000 to 330,000, reliability C). Both are true; they measure different things.
Why do the live total and the snapshot differ?
The live API refreshes hourly and moves with register refreshes and maintenance. The snapshot is fixed at 15 July 2026 and is the figure quoted on public pages. A difference between them says more about ingestion than about the market.

Methodology and limitations

Each national register is ingested as published, the raw record is preserved and an interpreted layer normalises identity, authorisation, product role, connected entity and validity dates into one schema. The count is exact for the ingested layer, which is what reliability A covers, and an active record is one the source register shows as valid at the observation date. Coverage per country is labelled rich, partial or thin, and no headcount is modelled from the aggregate.
